Hot August Nights Drag Races and Burnouts brings fast action to our annual event. The drag races track is a short course at 1/16 of a mile held in the west parking lot at the Nugget Casino Resort. The format is one-on-one match races with full professional equipment including “Christmas Tree” starting lights, finish line displays, and full comparative E.T. printouts for each driver.

The committee has three basic responsibilities:

  • Register drivers and to insure the participants meet tech checkpoints.
  • Monitor entrances and assure safe transit of the tech check area for our guests.
  • Organize the racers into pairs, transition them from the tech check area to the track, monitor the track for safety, and assist drivers in the transition back to the tech check area.

Drag Races is one of the most exciting and fun venues to work, and we need at least 40 volunteers to assist in running this venue. Attend a Drag Races Committee meeting to sign up and guarantee your spot on the crew, and be ready to enjoy your volunteer assignment.
