Hot August Nights Volunteer Membership Committees

As a Volunteer Member, you choose which membership committee(s) most interest you. Find out more about the committees listed below along with when they meet.
As a Volunteer Member, you are asked to select a committee you prefer or that suites you the most. All volunteers need to select a committee.
Administration/Office
Assist in office on a year-round basis and/or during the Event. Assist in data entry, mailings, filing & general office duties.

Awards Committee
Coordination of all judged show-n-shines, award presentations, selection of trophies, etc.

Car Events Committee
If you want to be near the cars, this committee is the place for you. Volunteer Members help manage the Show-n-Shines, car cruises and the Sunday parade. Activities include traffic direction, monitoring of parking available, crowd control, & much more.

Check-In Committee
If you can’t work out in the sun or prefer a job sitting down, check out the Check-In Committee. At Check-In, Volunteer Members greet the car participants at the Grand Sierra Resort, get them checked in and hand out the goodie bags and credentials.

Drag Races & Burnouts Committee
The Drag Races & Burnouts Committee assists with vehicle registration, gate admissions, venue crowd control and miscellaneous duties.

Finance Committee
This group is responsible for handling all monies at Hot August Nights Events held at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (Hot August Nights Swap Meet) and the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (Hot August Nights Classic Car Auction).

Foundation Committee
Volunteer Members on this committee assist with planning and organizing various charitable events for children in need and at risk in our community.

Member Services Committee
If you like planning parties, this is the group for you. Member Services plan and staff Hot August Nights Member parties throughout the year, pack the Volunteer Member goodie bags and work on various member service projects throughout the year.

Operations Committee
This committee handles radio communication, site planning, preparation, and set-up prior to the Event. During the Event the committee oversees and manages venues at the Grand Sierra Resort, Downtown Reno & Sparks.

Support Services Committee
This committee, a combination of the former Event Information Committee and Special Events Committee is responsible for the coordination & staffing of the Hot August Nights Information Booths during the Event. They also are in charge of the Poker Run and Poker Walk booths during the Reno-Sparks Event.

The Garage Committee
This group is responsible for the Hot August Nights “Night Club” located next to the stage in the venue lot at the Grand Sierra Resort. This committee manages the area for setup, cleanup, serving a variety of beverages and a host of other tent service duties.
