Hot August Nights – The Virtual Edition 2020

Partnering with Fund Dual, Hot August Nights Takes The Event Virtually

RENO-SPARKS, Nev. (August 5, 2020) –– The COVID-19 pandemic may have stopped the northern Nevada annual summer event Hot August Nights from happening this year, but it has not stopped event organizers from coming up with other ideas to celebrate this beloved tradition! Along with welcoming a new Executive Director, Alan Tom this week, Hot August Nights will be holding an official merchandise sale, supporting a local Renown parade to thank Healthcare workers and for the first time, Hot August Nights goes virtual!

This Friday and Saturday, August 7 & 8 from 9am – 7pm, Hot August Nights will be holding an official souvenir merchandise sale at Summit Racing Equipment located at 960 E Glendale Ave. in Sparks. Enthusiasts will be able to purchase new 2020 merchandise along with bundle deals and great items from the Oldies Emporium tent. Social distancing guidelines will be in place during sale hours.

After the merchandise sale, Hot August Nights is pleased to support Renown Health for their classic car cruise to thank healthcare workers. Renown invites classic car owners to hop in their cars and cruise over to the hospital on Friday, Aug. 7 from 7-8:30 p.m. They ask participants to show their support by making signs, honking their horns and helping them cheer on our amazing healthcare heroes. There is no formal route. Participants are encouraged to drive by the entrance of Renown Regional Medical Center on Mill St. first and then head over to the entrance of Renown South Meadows Medical Center on Double R Blvd. to keep the celebration going.

Make sure to get out those cameras to take photos or video because Hot August Nights has gone virtual!  “We’ve designed the perfect event to satisfy the craving for classic cars in our first-ever virtual car show,” said current Executive Director, Mike Whan. The VirtualEdition is a challenge that will pit several car teams against each other in order to help raise funds for Hot August Nights. In-coming Executive Director, Alan Tom states, “This is a unique way to interact with others while showing off a little muscle or a lot of classic, all while doing it from your couch or driver’s seat.”

Whether your car is American, European, or custom – this virtual event has a team for you. Designed to share socially to engage any and all car enthusiasts, this virtual event will help Hot August Nights to continue on for many years to come with a portion of the proceeds going to the Hot August Nights Foundation, which works with businesses and other organizations to support the daily and academic needs of northern Nevada’s at-risk youth.
