Each year when the days get longer and warmer, it’s a clear sign that Hot August Nights’ annual Spring Fever Revival event is approaching. This year, in advance of the premier classic car and rock ‘n’ roll main event, land-marking its 30th anniversary, Spring Fever Revival will swing into downtown Reno with a bang between May 20 and 22.
In conjunction with the downtown properties, Hot August Nights celebrates the classics each spring with street vendors sharing and selling memorabilia, food and beverage booths, live entertainment and a Celebrity Choice Show-n-Shine. New this year, the top ten finishers from the Show-n-Shine will have an opportunity to showoff their rides during an awards ceremony at the Reno Aces Ballpark prior to the game on Sunday, May 22.
During the weekend event, registered participants will also have the chance to compete to be one of Hot August Nights’ featured automobiles on its 30th-anniversary poster and other prominent marketing materials.
“In the car world, it is a huge privilege to be considered, and then chosen for our official poster,” Hot August Nights Marketing and PR Manager Heather Libretti states. “Since 2016 is a milestone year for the event, we expect that competition will be high. We’ll also be choosing eight classic beauties for our front-page wraps on the Reno Gazette-Journal during the week of the main event.”
For the first time, a new partnership has blossomed as well for this season’s event, as Hot August Nights teams up with the Reno Aces bringing fans of both organizations some special springtime treats. A portion of the ticket sale proceeds for the Sunday, May 22 home game between the Reno Aces and the Omaha Storm Chasers will benefit the Hot August Nights Foundation, whose mission is to provide children in need or at risk with a more meaningful and productive life through the availability of continuing and higher education. Ticket purchasers for that game will also receive a free Aces hat. “Seeing downtown teaming with an exhilarating sample of the main event offered this spring will get our hearts pumping even more in anticipation of the main event,” Hot August Nights Executive Director Mike Whan states. “And we’re thrilled about forging a new partnership with the Reno Aces this year, and seeing how we can continue to work together in the future.”
Spring Fever Revival will take place in downtown Reno on Fri., May 20 and Sat., May 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and then on Sun., May 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration for the springtime event is open to all 1976 and older vehicles, and is free for all 2016 Hot August Nights registered car participants. Each registrant will receive a window sticker, commemorative dash plaque and other items. A $35 entry fee will be charged for all non-registered car participants. The event is free for the public to enjoy.
