July 29 – 30 Virginia City Kickoff and Aug. 2 – 7 Reno-Sparks

RENO, Nevada (April 2022) — This August, car enthusiasts from the world over can look forward to hot days and the nostalgia-filled nights as Hot August Nights returns to Reno-Sparks for its 35th year. Attendees looking to relive the 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond can enjoy the annual week-long celebration dedicated to classic cars and classic music starting July 29, 2022. Since 1986 thousands of classic cars and car lovers from near and far descend on the Reno-Tahoe region to participate in one of the largest annual classic car events in the world.

The must-attend event kicks off Friday, July 29 in the historic mining town of Virginia City, Nevada, located 23 miles from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The main street is lined with registered cars for a Classic Car Show-n-Shine for spectators of all ages followed by a late afternoon cruise and an awards presentation Saturday, July 30.

The main 2022 event in Reno-Sparks starts Tuesday, Aug. 2 and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 7 with the final cruise in downtown Reno, known as the grand finale parade beginning at 10 a.m.

“Our team at Hot August Nights is again excited to bring this important special event back to northern Nevada for its 35th year,” Alan Tom, executive director of Hot August Night, said. “We’re ready, our community is ready and I can tell you, our participants are really ready. The schedule includes hundreds of activities to include Show-n-Shines, nightly cruises, MAG Auctions, Swap Meet, Big Boy’s Toy Store free live entertainment our ever-popular Drag Races and Burnouts along with many other fun activities for the whole family.  We sincerely thank our many dedicated volunteer members, participants and sponsors for their support throughout last year.”

Official registered cars are capped at 6,000 for the main Reno-Sparks event with currently less than 2,000 available spots open. The Virginia City kickoff is almost sold out with a cap of 400 registered classic cars so get your registration in now. Car registration for the Reno-Sparks portion remains open until the limit is reached. Register online at HotAugustNights.net. Pending availability, onsite registration takes place at the Silver State Pavilion located inside the Grand Sierra Resort starting Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Hot August Nights, a nonprofit organization, started as a way to drive tourism to the area during August while raising money for local charities. Now, it’s considered an iconic special event for attendees and participants to relive and celebrate the nostalgic times of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
