MAG continues to give back with $500,000 raised for local non-profits since 2016

Hot August Nights is once again teaming up with Motorsport Auction Group (MAG Auctions) for the annual Collector Car Auction, Aug. 3– 5, 2023,at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center as part of the annual gathering of more than 5,500 classic cars. This action-packed, three-day event held during the event week has raised more than $500,000 for Reno-area organizations since 2016. The auction brings more than 500 items including classic cars, vintage cars, street rods, muscle cars and an extensive selection of memorabilia to bidders from across the country. Car aficionados, those looking to add to their collection or anyone looking to experience a live, energetic auction attend MAG Auctions eighth year at Hot August Nights.

Generously, MAG Auctions supports the Hot August Nights Foundation by auctioning off a vehicle with proceeds benefiting the organization’s mission to provide children in-need or at-risk in the Reno-Sparks area with a more meaningful and productive life. This year’s Foundation car is a 1957 Ford Country Squire 9-passenger wagon with a light green exterior, dark green interion and powered by a Thunderbird special Y block and equipped with power steering and power 4-wheel drum brakes that have recently been overhauled.

“The Hot August Nights Foundation is fortunate to have two donors that alternate each year in providing us with a car for the auction,” said Deny Dotson, executive director for Hot August Nights and Hot August Nights Foundation. “When we received word this was the vehicle for 2023, we were so excited to offer up this cruiser. This is a great car and is ready to roll from the auction block, right into the streets of Reno-Sparks.”

Since 2007, the Hot August Nights Foundation has helped more than 80 different organizations by distributing over $1.3 million in cash, merchandise and scholarships. Learn more about it and watch a video here. For the exact date and time this car will be auctioned, visit MAG Auctions online.

“We live and work in this community, too, so we feel it’s important for us to help raise awareness and funds for the organizations that work so hard to make this a beautiful place for everyone,” Mike Oberle, co-owner of MAG, said. “A big portion of our fundraising helps children in need and it’s the generosity of our donors and attendees that makes this possible. We are honored to present this auction and support our community in the process.” In addition to the Hot August Nights Foundation, MAG Auction helps raise money for other Reno-Sparks area non-profits. Last year, Make-a-Wish, the Humane Society and the City of Reno K9 Unit were among the other recipients. Reno Police Department’s K9 Unit will again be involved in the 2023 auction, with their highly trained dogs performing exercises and added security. In recognition, MAG will auction an item to benefit their unit.

The MAG Hot August Nights Collector Car Auction is Aug. 3 – 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $20 for a single day pass, or $45 for a three-day pass. Kids 12 and under free and military and first responders receive a discount. Tickets are available at the door.
