New Car Judging Competition
During Hot August Nights 2008 registered car participants will have the opportunity to become involved with an entirely new car judging competition.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, this new car judging category ...the Marque...is being presented and sponsored by John Ascuaga’s Nugget on Victorian Square in Sparks.
The Marque category of judging has been established for this competition. On Wednesday the Marque judging will be for Chevrolets & General Motors cars, Thursday will be Fords, and Friday will be Chrysler…all Mopar cars. A Marque is a featured brand of a manufactured automobile.
Winners will be selected from any of the following categories: Best Stock Original, Best Restored Original, Best Custom, Best Daily Driver, Best Project-In Progress, Best Pickup, Best Hot Rod, Best Street Rod, Best Rat Rod, and Best Cruiser.
Each day, five daily winners will be selected and each will receive a cash award and trophy. The Top Marque of the day will receive an additional cash award plus the bragging rights of the Top Marque Chevrolet/General Motors car, Ford, or Chrysler (all Mopar) car of Hot August Nights 2008. In addition the three Top Marque cars will be the featured cars on the 2009 Hot August Nights official Car Participant T-shirt.
On Saturday, the judging theme will change to Muscle Cars. The winning Muscle Cars will be chosen from the following categories; Best Stock Original, Best Restored Original, Best Custom, Best Daily Driver, Best Project-In Progress, and Best Race Prepared. Each of these five winners will receive a cash award and trophy.
In addition, from the five muscle car winners, one will be selected as the Top Muscle car of Hot August Nights 2008. That winner will receive an additional cash award, plus a ribbon and their car will be featured on the official 2008 Hot August Nights car participant T-shirt.
All car categories will be judged by Hot August Nights sanctioned judges. Judging will take place from 12 PM through 4 PM each day of competition with winner’s presentation taking place at 4:30 PM each day.
To be eligible to win all car participants must have their cars in place in the designated area on Victorian Square in Sparks by 12 Noon each day of Judging. Car spaces for judging will not be, nor cannot be reserved and will only be available to Hot August Nights registered car participants on a first come first served basis.
This new category of Hot August Nights car judging escalates the monetary awards to more than $120,000.00 in cash being given away at Hot August Nights 2008…a claim that no other classic car show and nostalgia event in these United States can make.
