JOIN THE TEAM Become a Hot August Nights Volunteer Member Hot August Nights' volunteer members are truly the VIP's of this community. Each year this major Event brings thousands of visitors to the Truckee Meadows to witness and participate in the best outdoor event in the United States. Hot August Nights' volunteer members are the heart and soul of this magnificent Event and willingly volunteer for everything - from traffic control to managing a venue. If you want to be near the cars, there is the Car Committee who manage the show-n-shines, cruises and the Sunday parade. If you can’t work out in the sun, you can volunteer for our Check-In Committee who greet the car participants at the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR), get them checked in and hand out the goody bags and credentials. Other areas of service include Member Services who help plan and staff Member parties throughout the year, run the Member shuttle during the Event staff all the info booths, the Poker Walk and the Oldies Emporium Sales Booth. The Foundation Committee help with HAN charitable functions including the Coat Drive, Christmas for needy teens, various functions for our adopted school and sell raffle tickets for our annual raffle car. The Operations Committee oversees and helps manage the venue at the GSR. The Food & Beverage Committee help make sure our volunteers have plenty of water, ice and lunches for the Event. The Entertainment Committee help with the staging of entertainment at the GSR and Victorian Square venues and the Finance Committee helps run oversee the money handling at various venues. Hot August Nights is busy year round helping to support activities in the community. Our members have helped with the 2002 Winter Olympics Torch Run, Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade, Salvation Army Bell Ringing during the holidays, Salvation Army Coat Drive, Channel 5 Auction & Pledge Drive and through the Hot August Nights Children's Charities program, have adopted a school to help year around. Our Members must be 18 years or older and must commit to working a minimum of 16 hours during the Event. We love for our Members to truly get involved and commit to more hours, but we appreciate any time you can give. Whether you're looking to meet new friends, give back to the community or just really like the Event, we invite you to join our team and become a Hot August Nights Member.
